Pope Francis will give an extraordinary blessing “urbi et orbi” (to the city and the world) at 1 p.m. Friday ET (6 p.m. Rome time), in response to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The live event will also feature Scripture readings and Eucharistic Adoration, and the benediction will include the possibility of receiving a plenary indulgence. The Statio Orbis including the prayer presided over by the Holy Father on the sagrato of St Peter’s Basilica, can be followed live through the Vatican News website (English, Spanish, Vietnamese, Korean). A simultaneous translation in multiple languages including English and Spanish will accompany the broadcast. You can livestream directly from the Vatican News YouTube channels (English, Spanish). The livestream will also be available through the diocese and Catholic News Herald websites and social media, so that we can spread the Holy Father’s message to as many people as possible and unite in prayer.
