Happy Mothers Day to All Mothers Past, Present, and Future

Happy Mothers Day to all of those wonderful women we call Mothers.  For all those mothers who are still our mothers, but no longer with us here on earth yet still very much our mothers.  For all those mothers who are raising children or those who have raised their children and still very much a part of our lives here in one way or another.  In a special way for those mothers who have lost children and are still very much mothers.  For all new mothers with children on the way.  Finally for all mothers to be.  We honor you and pray for you in a special way this day in thanksgiving for the special role God has given you and the role you play in all of our lives not just your own children.  May you all through the intercession of our Heavenly Mother, Mary the Mother of God, be abundantly blessed.

Official Announcement of Welcome to Deacon John Szarek

I finally received from the Diocese this week the Official letter of appointment for Deacon John.  Many of you have seen Deacon John and had an opportunity to meet the good Deacon and his wonderful wife Sue over the recent months.  I have really enjoyed working with Deacon John and spending time with him since he first arrived and we began discussions of his possible appointment to serve here permanently.  Deacon John and his wife Sue of 27 years moved to Franklin a little over a year ago.  He brings almost 14 years of experience as an ordained Deacon to St. Mary’s.  Before moving to North Carolina, Deacon John and Sue lived in Chicago and served at St. Ansgar Parish in Hanover, IL and in the Archdiocese of Chicago with the Diaconate program.  I extremely glad to have them as part of our parish family and excited to be able to truly officially announce Deacon John’s Official appointment as a Deacon of St. Mary Mother of God.  Along with Deacon Matt Newsome we are truly blessed to now have two wonderful deacons with their wonderful spouses and families as a part of our beautiful parish of St. Mary Mother of God.  If you have the chance please continue to extend a warm word of welcome to Deacon John and his wife Sue.

Five Week Scripture Study Series on the Eucharist and Mass

Join me over the next five weeks leading up to the Feast of Corpus Christi as we go through the wonderful Lectio Series On the Eucharist with Dr. Brant Pitre and The Presence a series on the Mass from our Formed.org subscription.  The whole series will be run online via Zoom.  We will begin the Zoom session and have a time of introduction for each session on Zoom then each participant will be asked to view on Formed from their location the session, then we will continue with a time of sharing and discussion.  In the Lectio Series segment on Formed there is available for download a full color .pdf version of the accompanying study guide to go along with each of the ten segments or episodes.  I will be able to  share on zoom the current segments with the questions for discussion.  Or you can let us know if there is another way in which we can aid participants in getting the materials.  I will be recording each session and posting them on our YouTube channel for anyone who cannot participate at the advertised time or misses a session and would like to catch up.  Here are the Zoom sign in details:
