Happy Father’s Day
Many Blessings to all Fathers of all forms biological, adoptive, foster or spiritual on this Father’s Day weekend. May all Fathers past and present be blessed especially those who have lost children in any way that the love of the Father, whose own Son suffered death, console their hearts. Fathers have a very special role in society they are in a unique way to be the face of the love of God the Father within the family. This was made very real when in my life at the conclusion of the celebration of my First Mass I gave my Father the stole with which I heard my confession. As it is understood I give my father this stole because he was the one who taught me to be both Just and Merciful like the Father in heaven whose minister of Justice and Mercy I am through the Sacrament of Confession. At my father’s death and judgement God will ask him, “what have you done for me and my Church?” He will present the stole replying, “I have given you my son as a priest.” May all fathers be the true sign of the just and merciful love of the Father, and may the grace of God the Father heal all wounds that have been suffered by their children where this has lacked in their lives.
New Look in the Church
It is good to be back from vacation and especially to a slightly new look. I have had the inspiration and prayed about changing the color in the sanctuary and back wall by the baptismal font off and on over the last three years. I would like to thank Ellen Miller and Caryn Raming for their wonderful work in making this happen. I consulted a number of different parishioners off and on as well. Over this time of pandemic I thought it was as good of a time as any. I had picked 6 different shades of blue and with the assistance of an artist in the parish had large samples made on poster board to hang to help see what the color might look like on the walls. Through additional consultation and prayer asking Our Lady to help pick the color she wanted. We arrived at the dark blue we now have titled Dyed Indigo which would have been used to dye any blue garments Mary would have worn during her time. I am thoroughly happy and hope that most will be as well. We used the color on the sanctuary wall, the baptismal font walls, and the lower panel of the wall in the entry way below the chair rail. The upper portion of the wall in the entry way is a light grey that was used in one of the class rooms in the conference center that I thought would complement the blue well. I think with the guidance of the Blessed Mother working through wonderful parishioners and prayerful discernment we have arrived at a good choice in our new colors. There is a next phase that will happen hopefully in the next couple of weeks. The plan is to use the same Gothic Font that is used on the cover of our bulletin to stencil in gold at the top of the sanctuary wall “Blessed are you who believed” (Luke 1:45) which is the motto from our coat of arms, Beata Que Credidit. At the top of the baptistery wall will be Mary’s last recorded words from scripture, “Do whatever he tells you” (John 2:5).
Phase III Possibilities if possible to take effect 6/27 & 28
As a reminder these policies flow from charity. We are not out of the woods yet; I continue to be made aware of new cases in our area that have impacted our community. It is a true act of love to desire to protect our neighbor so that we can continue to participate in greater ways as a community during these difficult times. We need to be greater examples of love in the world, a love that sacrifices for the other if we hope to evangelize and transform the culture one act of love at a time.
Sunday Mass:
We are working toward provisions on the feasibility of being to reconfigure pew space in the church to allow a greater capacity at Mass and shift indoors for our Masses and away from the drive in Mass as the heat picks up. If and when we are able to do this there will be another shift in Mass times hopefully back to our normal Sunday Mass schedule of 8:30 and 11:30 am with confessions a half hour before each Mass. The new capacity will be a 75-person maximum with every other pew being blocked off. If there is a need for a third Mass because of lack of capacity the schedule may need to be modified to accommodate a third Sunday Mass. There will still need to be a Signup Genius for each of the Masses. As folks signup they will be signing up for a specific Mass and time. Announcements will be made as soon as possible this week. Communion: As a function of the Phase II directives and the Directives from the Diocese it is not necessary to social distance within families and it is not necessary to purify and sanitize between individual family members for the distribution of Holy Communion. In light of this fact I am asking couples and families to come to the same communion station together. Please observe the Laminated Communion Flow Charts in the pews for attending Mass indoors.
Use of Masks/Face Coverings: While outside it is not necessary to wear a mask or face covering as long as we are able to maintain social distancing of 6 feet or more from non-family or household members. If we cannot maintain social distancing, then masks or face coverings are to be worn. I continue to ask that masks or face coverings be worn at all times inside the church building with the exception of the moment of reception of Holy Communion.
Fourth of July Independence Day Celebration Possibilities
We are currently looking into the possibilities of being able to have a Parish Independence Day celebration on Saturday the 4th of July. This is dependent on when and if the Town of Sylva will be having their Independence Day Fireworks display. If the Town of Sylva will proceed with their fireworks on the 4th the plan will be to have a bilingual Drive-in Parish Mass at 6:30pm so there is enough time to finish with Mass and break things down after Mass before the fireworks display begins. Families will be encouraged to bring their own food and beverage to share within their respective family. We then can share our time together as a parish family in our parking lot as some of the best seats in the house for the annual display. If the display is on a different day we will announce the provisions in accordance.

Feliz Día del Padre
Muchas bendiciones a todos los padres de todas las formas biológicas, adoptivas, adoptivas o espirituales en este fin de semana del Día del Padre. Que todos los Padres pasados y presentes sean bendecidos, especialmente aquellos que han perdido hijos de alguna manera que el amor del Padre, cuyo propio Hijo sufrió la muerte, consuele sus corazones. Los padres tienen un papel muy especial en la sociedad, son de una manera única para ser el rostro del amor de Dios Padre dentro de la familia. Esto se hizo muy real cuando en mi vida, al concluir la celebración de mi primera misa, le di a mi padre la estola con la que escuché mi confesión. Como se entiende, le di a mi padre esta estola porque fue él quien me enseñó a ser Justo y
Misericordioso como el Padre en el cielo cuyo ministro de Justicia y Misericordia soy a través del Sacramento de la Confesión. A la muerte y el juicio de mi padre, Dios le preguntará: “¿Qué has hecho por mí y mi Iglesia?” Él presentará la estola respondiendo: “Te he dado a mi hijo
como sacerdote”. Que todos los padres sean la verdadera señal del amor justo y misericordioso del Padre, y que la gracia de Dios el Padre sane todas las heridas sufridas por sus hijos donde esto ha faltado en sus vidas.
Nueva mirada en la iglesia
Es bueno volver de vacaciones y especialmente a un aspecto ligeramente nuevo. He tenido la inspiración y he orado para cambiar el color en el santuario y la pared posterior por la fuente bautismal de vez en cuando en los últimos tres años. Me gustaría agradecer a Ellen Miller y Caryn Raming por su maravilloso trabajo para que esto suceda. Consulté a varios feligreses de vez en cuando también. Misa dominical:
Estamos trabajando para lograr provisiones sobre la viabilidad de reconfigurar el espacio de los bancos en la iglesia para permitir una mayor capacidad en la misa y cambiarnos al interior par nuestras misas y lejos del camino en la misa a medida que aumenta el calor. Si podemos hacerlo, habrá otro cambio en los horarios de misa, con suerte de regreso a nuestro horario normal de misa dominical de 8:30 y 11:30 am con confesiones media hora antes de cada misa. La nueva capacidad será de 75 -máximo de persona con cualquier otro banco bloqueado. Si existe la necesidad de una tercera misa debido a la falta de capacidad, es posible que sea necesario modificar el horario para acomodar una tercera misa dominical. Todavía será necesario que haya un Genio de registro para cada una de las misas. A medida que la gente se registre, se registrarán para una misa y un horario específicos. Comunión: en función de las directivas de la Fase II y de las Directivas de la Diócesis, no es necesario distanciarse socialmente entre las familias y no es necesario purificar y desinfectar entre los miembros individuales de la familia para la distribución de la Sagrada Comunión. Si no podemos mantener el distanciamiento social, entonces se deben usar máscaras o cubiertas faciales. Sigo pidiendo que se usen máscaras o cubiertas faciales en todo momento dentro del edificio de la iglesia, con la excepción delmomento de la recepción de la Sagrada Comunión.
Posibilidades de celebración del día de la independencia del cuatro de julio
Actualmente estamos estudiando las posibilidades de poder celebrar el Día de la Independencia de la Parroquia el sábado 4 de julio. Esto depende de cuándo y si la Ciudad de Sylva tendrá su fuegos artificiales del Día de la Independencia. Si el pueblo de Sylva procederá con sus fuegos artificiales el 4, el plan será tener una misa parroquial bilingüe Drive-in a las 6:30 p.m. . Se alentará a las familias a traer su propia comida y bebida para compartir con sus respectivas familias. Luego podemos compartir nuestro tiempo juntos como familia parroquial en nuestro estacionamiento como algunos de los mejores asientos de la casa para la exhibición anual. Si la pantalla está en un día diferente, anunciaremos las disposiciones de acuerdo.
