Corpus Christi Procession & 40 Hours Devotion

Announcements Liturgy

“Out of the darkness of my life, so much frustrated, I put before you the one great thing to love on earth: the Blessed Sacrament … There you will find romance, glory, honour, fidelity, and the true way of all your loves upon earth.” ― J.R.R. Tolkien

Friday, June 1 will mark the start of a 40 hours devotion leading up to Corpus Christi Sunday, June 3. Sign-ups for Adoration during the 40 hours
devotion will begin May 20. There is a sign-up board in front of the parish hall which includes a schedule of special devotions to be observed during the 40 hours. Committed adorers are encouraged to sign-up for and keep their normal hours, or change up as they’d like during this special observance as all hours will be open for sign-ups. Normally scheduled Adoration will resume in July.

Our celebration of the Body of Christ will conclude with a Eucharistic Procession that will begin in Bridge Park Sunday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. and conclude on the parish grounds where Father hopes to have at least 3 altars and no more than 7 altars set up along our route around the grounds. If your family or group (ie Knights, Carmelites, etc) is interested in sponsoring and decorating an altar, please email or call the office at: stmarysylva@frontier.com or 828-586-9496, or talk to Father directly. Please include in the subject line of the email: ATTN Fr Coleman, Corpus Christi Altar. Tables and candles for the altars will be provided, along with table coverings. If you’re interested, but unfamiliar with what sponsoring an altar entails, or need ideas for altar decorations, please see Father.

Thank you and God bless!
