Two Talks to Help Us Get the Most Out of Lent
Deacon Matt Newsome will offer two adult education talks to help us focus our efforts on spiritual growth as we enter into the season of Lent. These talks are free and open to the public. Each talk will be followed by a time for Q&A. The total time will be 1 to 1.5 hours.
FASTING & PENANCE: What the Church Really Teaches
On Saturday, March 9, at 10:00am, Deacon Matt will outline the Church’s actual fasting regulations, looking at specific source documents, as well as what the Church recommends the faithful do to increase the spiritual benefit of our penitential observance. Come to the 9:00am Mass and enjoy some fellowship time before the talk.
A RULE OF LIFE: Having a Spiritual Game Plan
On Wednesday, March 13, at 6:30pm, Deacon Matt will talk about how the idea of following a Rule of Life, common in monasteries, can be adapted to help anyone be more intentional about their spiritual life. Come to the 5:30pm Mass and stay for a potluck dinner before the presentation. NOTE: There is no youth faith formation this week due to Spring Break.
