Education

Catechesis is an education in the faith of children, young people, and adults which includes especially the teaching of Christian doctrine imparted, generally speaking, in an organic and systematic way, with a view to initiating the hearers into the fullness of Christian life” (Catechesi Tradendae 18).

Catechesis is intimately bound up with the whole of the Church’s life” (Catechesi Tradendae 13).

Faith Formation (K-12th grades)

Faith Formation classes meet weekly during the academic year on Wednesday evenings from 6:45pm until 8:00 pm for Kindergarten through 12th grade, ending in the Sanctuary for prayer and announcements until 8:15 pm.  Parents are required to attend class also. Anglo session begins at 6:45pm in the Music Room. Spanish Session begins at 6:45pm in the Church.

RCIA

RCIA stands for the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, and is the usual process through which a non-Catholic joins the Catholic Church. We have ongoing RCIA catechesis. Contact Mike Ensley at mikeensley1@gmail.com.

FORMED

Formed is an online platform containing thousands of books, audio talks, movies, documentaries and studies for every member of the family to help them grow closer to Christ and His Church. St. Mary’s parish has an annual subscription, making this content available to parishioners.

  • Go to FORMED.org on your computer or search for “Formed” in the app store on your device.
  • Click SIGN UP.
  • Select “I belong to a parish or organization” and then find St. Mary’s on the list. (Hint: there are many different parishes named St. Mary’s so you can find ours quicker by searching for “Sylva”).
  • Then enter your email and you will have access to all the content.
