Holy Water Blessing
There is a special tradition of blessing holy water on the vigil of Epiphany. This blessing involves a litany of the saints, the singing of psalms, and exorcisms of the salt and water to be blessed. Father will be blessing one large drum of water. Parishioners are encouraged to bring empty containers to fill after the blessing with holy water for use in their homes. We will also have blessed salt available for people to take home. Holy water and blessed salt are both very powerful sacramentals that can be used for prayer and spiritual protection in your homes throughout the year.
Epiphany Home Blessing
Another Epiphany tradition is the blessing of homes, using chalk blessed for this purpose to mark the doors with the names of the three magi as a witness of our faith and for protection against evil. Blessed chalk, along with instructions for how to use it to bless your home, will be available after all Epiphany Masses. You can also find the prayers for the home blessing online, at the link below.
