Announcements

Dear Parish Family,

Most brands, companies or groups have their unique selling points or advertisement. At times such brands over inflate their uses and importance in order to make it more attractive or appealing to people. Not so with Christianity and not so with our Savior Jesus Christ. He makes it very clear on today’s gospel “ If anyone wants to be a follower of mine, let him renounce himself and take up his cross and follow me.”

It follows that the cross, suffering is part and parcel of the Christian Religion. A cross-less Christianity does not exist, no matter how many times some tele-evangelists preach a prosperity gospel. It is simply not what Jesus Christ preached but rather what Peter tried to suggest inviting the thorough rebuke from our Lord Jesus Christ who told Peter to “get behind me satan.” To be a Christian is very expensive not in monetary terms, but in terms of pain and sacrifice that leads to joy, happiness and true peace. This saying is very apt for the follower of Christ: “No pain no gain.”

If it were possible to be a Christian without carrying the cross, Jesus would have shown us how. Rather he carried his own cross all the way to Calvary and drank the cup of suffering for our sake. The road of the cross eventually led to his resurrection and glorification. Jesus invites us to the same road of the cross, which will lead to our own resurrection and glorification with Jesus. Jesus does not conform his will to our own wills, lifestyles or desires but if we are to be true Christians, we must go through the pain, suffering and sacrifice of conforming our wills and desires to Christ. That might like Isaiah expose us to ridicule and opposition from us.

House Keeping:

  1. Thank you to all the parishioners for their generosity and support both in the online giving and pew offertory. As a reminder, the offertory baskets are in the back of the Church, and pew offertories can be
dropped before the beginning of Mass or during offertory.
  2. The HPAC units for the Church and the Parish hall have been installed with your support and donations. The ramp with railings and ungraded steps for the main entrance is now completed. Thank you for your patience during this time.

Querida familia parroquial:
