We are holding a parish mission in advance of the National Eucharistic Congress, and you are invited!
Our mission will extend from Sunday-Wednesday the week before the Congress, and will be preached by our own Deacon Matthew Newsome, who will be attending the National Eucharistic Congress in Indianapolis the following week.
The Church calls the Eucharist “the source and summit of the Christian life” (Catechism of the Catholic Church 1324), so the theme of our mission is Source & Summit. Join us as we take a walk through the movements of the Mass to learn about the meaning of Christian worship and the centrality of the Eucharist to our faith.
Ever wished you knew more about the Mass so you could participate more fully and get more out of the liturgy? This mission is for you!
It begins Sunday, July 7, with a special homily on The Meaning of WORSHIP preached at both the 8:30 & 11:30 AM Masses (plus the 7:00 PM Vigil Mass in Spanish the evening before).
It continues on Monday, July 8, at 6:30 PM with a talk on The Liturgy of the WORD given in the Joe Conway Fellowship Hall.
Return to the fellowship hall on Tuesday, July 9, at 6:30 PM for a talk on The Eucharistic SACRIFICE.
We wrap up on Wednesday, July 10, with a pot-luck dinner at 6:00 PM, followed by a talk on Eucharistic COMMUNION at 6:45 and a celebration of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass at 7:30 were Deacon Matt will preach the concluding homily of the mission.
There is no cost to participate other than your time. Let your heart come alive with Eucharistic zeal as we fall in love with Jesus in the Eucharist all over again!
