St. Mary’s parishioners will return from the Eucharistic Congress this August with a special guest!
A specially commissioned statue of Mary, Mother of God is visiting more than 100 locations across the Diocese of Charlotte during the 50th anniversary year – making a spiritual pilgrimage to visit the faithful across our diocese just as she did in her “Visitation” to St. Elizabeth. Through participation in this memorable Marian Pilgrimage, our diocesan family comes together by uniting parishes, missions, schools and other Catholic institutions in prayer to God through the intercession of our patroness.
The pilgrim statue of Mary, Mother of God will be present for the Diocese of Charlotte’s annual Eucharistic Congress, taking place Aug. 5-6 at the Charlotte Convention Center. The statue will accompany our parishioners on the return bus from Charlotte the evening of Aug. 6 and remain with us until Wednesday, Aug. 10.
The statue will be displayed in the sanctuary of our parish for the veneration of the faithful throughout her four days with us. A special box will be placed near the statue for the faithful to place written prayer requests. We also encourage you to join us in the following parish events centered around the pilgrim statue’s visit. NOTE THE SPECIAL MASS SCHEDULE FOR THE WEEKEND.
- SATURDAY, AUG 6: No Spanish Vigil Mass due to the Eucharistic Congress. The Pilgrim statue of Our Lady will be arriving at the parish sometime late Saturday evening.
- SUNDAY, AUG 7: The 8:30 AM Mass will take place in English as usual. The Pilgrim statue will be available for devotion. At 11:30 AM we will have a Marian Procession with the statue beginning at Bridge Park, concluding with a bilingual Mass in the church.
- MONDAY, AUG 8: Bilingual rosary and Litany of Loreto at 6:30 PM
- TUESDAY, AUG 9: Bilingual rosary and Litany of Loreto at 6:30 PM
In addition, we also invite you to join us in praying a special novena to Mary, Mother of God, in advance of the pilgrim statue’s visit, beginning on July 31.
